MDF Phone Connections
If you've just applied for a new phone line connection to your unit, apartment or business premises, you may require a Licensed Phone Technician to complete the connection to your phone socket, or to a new location. Or if your newly requested phone line doesn't appear to be working you may also need us.
The internal phone wiring is no longer recognised as belonging to Telstra. The wiring from the MDF or Main Distribution Frame to the phone socket officially belongs to the landlord but any connection is the responsibility of the tenant to have carried out.
Unfortunately, your service provider will only ensure you have a service up to the "Network Boundary", being the MDF. This means they no longer provide service to a working phone socket inside your premises.
Please note: The MDF should never be accessed by unqualified people as this may result in disconnecting other residents and even businesses.
For security purposes, the location of the MDF is sometimes located in a locked cupboard to which the client needs to arrange access to in advance.
